Batteries Privacy Policy

Updated July 31, 2025

Batteries (“the App”, “we”, “our”) is an iOS, iPadOS, macOS and watchOS application that synchronises battery information across your Apple devices via iCloud. We believe that great functionality does not require invasive data collection, and we are committed to processing only the data strictly necessary for the service to work.

What Is Personal Data in Batteries?

+

We consider personal data to be any information that can identify you directly or indirectly. In the context of Batteries this includes:

  • Apple Push Notification token – a device‑specific string supplied by Apple that enables push notifications. While the token itself does not reveal your identity, it is unique to your device and therefore treated as a technical identifier.
  • App‑generated Device UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) – a random, locally‑generated identifier stored per device to keep battery records distinct.
  • Battery telemetry – current charge level and historical “entry” records (charge level, timestamp, charging / Low‑Power‑Mode flags).
  • Crash reports & diagnostics – if you have opted‑in to Apple’s analytics, anonymised crash logs may be transmitted to Apple and shared with us.

We do not collect names, e‑mail addresses, locations, financial or health data, nor do we combine any of the above with third‑party datasets.

Your Privacy Rights

+

Regardless of where you live, you may:

  • Access a copy of the data stored in your iCloud private database.
  • Request correction or deletion of device entries.
  • Object to, or restrict, processing of your data.
  • Export your data in a portable format.

You can exercise these rights by contacting us at info@gustavoamaro.com. We aim to respond within 3 calendar days.

Personal Data We Collect — Source & Timing

+

Data classCollection momentMandatory?
Push‑notification tokenUpon app launchYes – required for background sync
Device UUIDFirst launch per deviceYes
Battery entriesAutomatically during foreground & background operationYes
Crash logsApple‑level opt‑in to “Share with App Developers”Optional

No permission prompts are displayed by the App itself because all collection relies on system‑level entitlements already controlled by the user.

The only data class that ever leaves your private iCloud storage is "Push‑notification token".

Data From Other Sources

+

Batteries does not obtain additional information from Sign in with Apple, marketing SDKs, analytics platforms or advertising networks. Family Sharing devices operate under separate iCloud accounts and therefore remain isolated.

How We Use Personal Data

PurposeData usedLegal basis*
Synchronise battery status across your devicesDevice UUID, battery entriesPerformance of a contract (the End‑User Licence Agreement)

*For users in the EEA/UK, processing is justified under Articles 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Data Retention — Battery entries persist until you delete them in‑app. Removing a device merely stops the creation of new battery entries. Deletions are propagated to iCloud immediately and become irrevocable after Apple’s server‑side grace period (up to 30 days).

Sharing Personal Data

+

We do not sell or share any personal data with third parties. Data may only be disclosed to law-enforcement upon a valid, binding legal request.

Protection of Personal Data

+

  • In transit – All traffic uses TLS 1.2+ enforced by App Transport Security.
  • At rest – iCloud Private Database encrypts records; local Core Data store is protected by Apple’s Data Protection class.
  • Keys & access – Only the developer (Gustavo Amaro) can access the CloudKit Dashboard; no personal data is visible there.
  • Incident response – In the event of a breach we will revoke unused APNs keys, investigate scope, and notify affected users and regulators within 72 hours where required.

Children

+

Batteries is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from them. The App requires an authenticated iCloud account, which itself enforces age gating.

Cookies & Similar Technologies

+

The App embeds no WebViews and sets no cookies. It uses no third‑party analytics libraries; only Apple’s optional crash‑reporting framework may store technical device identifiers.

International Data Transfers

+

Battery entries reside in your iCloud Private Database, which Apple may replicate across its global data‑centres. Apple relies on Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the EEA/UK/Switzerland. Push tokens transiting the app's servers may leave your country momentarily but remain encrypted end‑to‑end.

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

+

Batteries’ privacy practices are reviewed on every App Store submission or sooner if required by law. The developer continuously monitors platform‑security updates and applies patches promptly.
